Excess skin on the thighs—often a result of significant weight loss or changes from aging or pregnancy—can make wearing shorts or swimsuits uncomfortable for both men and women. If you’ve worked hard through diet and exercise but aren’t satisfied with the outcome, a thigh lift may be the right next step. This procedure can help redefine your contours, boost your confidence, and help you feel more at ease in your body.

What is a Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is the removal of excess skin from the inner and/or outer thighs. It can be combined with liposuction, but this is optional. The goal is to eliminate sagging and skin folds on the thighs while slimming them and helping to reveal the muscle definition underneath.

Who is a Good Candidate

Candidates for thigh lifts should have significant excess skin on their inner and/or outer thighs due to weight fluctuations, aging or pregnancy. They need to be in good overall health and have realistic expectations for their results, especially in regards to scarring. Ideally, candidates should be at a healthy BMI and have been at a stable weight for at least 6 months before getting a thigh lift.

Thigh Lift Recovery & Results

Most people will need to take 1-2 weeks off from work after a thigh lift. You may need to wear compression garments during your recovery. Expect to avoid strenuous activity for about 6 weeks after the procedure. You should have a good idea of your results after about 3 months, at which point the majority of swelling should be gone. During a consultation with Dr. Pack, he will discuss the surgical technique and what you can expect after the surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a thigh lift cost?
This varies based on numerous factors, including how much skin needs to be removed, if you are adding liposuction and if you are having other surgeries at the same time. The total cost will include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia fee, facility/OR fee, and may include other costs as well. To get an accurate estimate for your procedure, schedule a consultation with Dr. Pack.

Can a thigh lift help me lose weight?
It isn’t a weight loss procedure, but you could lose pounds just based on the amount of skin removed. You will also look slimmer after. Just keep in mind that due to swelling, you may not notice as big of a difference as you’d anticipated right away.

What are the scars like after a thigh lift?
They tend to be quite large, though this varies based on the amount of skin removed. The visibility of the scars varies based on which parts of the thighs are treated. We work to place them in a way that minimizes visibility without compromising results.
