What Is the Recovery Like?
You will be happy to learn that most of our patients are back to daily activities within the first week after surgery, including a return to work if they have a desk job.
It is common to have some bruising, swelling and tenderness initially, which will subside over the first several weeks after surgery, and you will need to rest at home for the first 2 to 3 days. While everyone heals differently, you can expect the following with recovery:
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a breast reduction cost?
The total cost for a breast reduction can vary from patient to patient. The procedure is tailored to the patient, and the price reflects this. Expect the price to include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia fee, facility/OR fee, and perhaps other costs as well. To get an accurate estimate for your procedure, schedule a consultation with Dr. Pack.
What are the scars like after breast reduction?
This varies based on the type of incision the doctor chooses, which usually depends on how much breast tissue is being removed. In all cases, they should be easily hidden in most clothes. Expect them to fade over the first year after surgery. A good way to predict how noticeable they will be long term is to look at other scars you have. Some people scar red while others have scars that tend to fade to their natural skin color.
Will a breast reduction make me healthier?
It could. Some people are motivated to get a breast reduction strictly for cosmetic reasons; they feel their figure is unbalanced or they struggle to find clothing that fits their breasts and their waist. Others seek breast reduction due to back, shoulder and neck pain. If you fall into the latter category or fit into both, getting your breasts reduced could improve your overall health and happiness.
